Optuas Big Splash

Disability charity Optua is looking for people in the Stowmarket area to take part in the weekly ‘Big Splash’ swimming sessions for people with disabilities.

The sessions run every Monday at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre from 3pm to 4pm and are supported by Suffolk County Council’s Activities Unlimited project.

Big Splash sessions give people with disabilities the chance to swim or learn to swim at an accessible swimming pool, supported by staff and volunteers. In 2010/2011 over 6,500 people enjoyed the sessions which run across Suffolk at several locations.

Big Splash sessions are open to anyone with a disability of any age and are also open to anyone recovering from an accident or with a long term health condition. There are staff and volunteers on hand to help and if you need a carer to come too they get to swim for free.

For more information please call Graeme Anderson on 01473 836770. Optua is also launching new Big Splash sessions at Felixstowe Leisure centre on Friday 06 May
