In Suffolk today there are over 800 children in care
- could you help just one of them?

Today in Suffolk we have over 800 children in care, the majority of whom need foster placements, and there is always at least 15 children waiting to be adopted at any one time. Suffolk Fostering and Adoption Services are actively looking for more people willing to consider fostering or adoption and make a difference to these children’s lives.
We believe that people don’t always recognise the qualities it takes to care for a child. You may have excellent parenting skills without even knowing it! If you have ever considered fostering or adoption but questioned your own suitability, we would really like to hear from you.
We are searching for people from all walks of life, to meet the very varied needs of Suffolk children. We welcome applicants from all communities in Suffolk and from as wide a variety of backgrounds as possible, these include:

  •  married people
  •  couples living together
  •  single people
  •  same sex partnerships
  •  members of different ethnic, cultural and religious groups

We make every effort to match Suffolk children with the most suitable applicants, also taking into account the additional needs and disabilities that some of our children may have.
We also need to find more black and mixed heritage adopters and foster carers to provide suitable families for the increasing number of ethnic minority children coming into care. At Suffolk County Council we believe that every child deserves the right to grow up understanding and appreciating their own cultural heritage. We also do our utmost to ensure that sibling groups can remain together and finding foster carers and adopters that are willing to take on more than one child is invaluable. Now more than ever we have a need for people to come forward to foster and adopt children aged 0-5 years and we always need more foster carers for children aged 10 plus.
