Digital Switch Over (DSO) will commence on July 4th and will be complete on July 20th. This will affect approx 75% of Mid Suffolk residents that are currently relying on an aerial for TV reception. It Simon’s advice to prepare now as it has been proved that after switchover in other areas of the UK, there has been a shortage of Freeview set top boxes which are currently commonly available at approx. £25-£35.00. The first stage of DSO will be on July 4th when analogue BBC2 switches off forever. You will subsequently also notice that the normal channel line-up of analogue channels 1-5 will become mixed up and may cause some confusion. After DSO the signal strength and quality of many Freeview digital channels will increase dramatically and channels such as ITV1 and ITV2 will work far more reliably than you may currently be used to.
