Bacton United 2-1 Sudbury Athletic
The final, between the SIL’s Bacton United 89 and Sudbury Athletic, was played in front of an impressive sized crowd of 784, who witnessed a tense and thrilling match at Portman Road.
Graham Drury put Bacton ahead with an emphatic volley from 10 yards out. Just ten minutes later, Sudbury got the equaliser from the penalty spot, bringing the score to 1 – 1 at half time. With twenty minutes remaining, Bacton’s Drury scored his second goal of the evening, which proved to be the winner. When the full time whistle sounded, the celebrations started. Joyous scenes among the players and spectators were a sight to behold, as Bacton left the pitch victorious. Speaking after the match Bacton Manager, Paul Evans, said ‘It’s just unbelievable Geoff’.
